Emergency Child Care

Course outline:
Students will learn how to respond to airway, breathing, and circulatory emergencies in infants and children. They will learn how to recognize and respond to common childhood emergencies.

Length:

This course is 8 hours in length.

Course content:
  • Emergency action principles (including scene survey, how to call EMS, and primary survey)
  • Airway, breathing and circulatory emergencies and interventions
  • Bleeding and burns
  • Common child first aid situations
  • Injury prevention


Certification:
Students must perform the skills to the required standard and also successfully complete a multiple choice exam. The Emergency Child Care certification is valid for three years.
