Standard First Aid &

Basic life support

Course Info

Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home.

In addition to Standard First Aid, this course teaches Basic Life Support level CPR (formerly known as Health Care Provider).  It is intended for in-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals, as well as pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol.

The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

As of September 1, 2018, Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid courses are considered equivalent to Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 for the purpose of workplace first aid attendants.  And Red Cross courses have the added benefit of national recognition, more flexible class instruction, and they teach critical life savings skills for all ages, not just adults.
